Reynard Florence Vineyard
Reynard Florence is a family-run boutique winery, producing hand-crafted and award-winning wines. Owners Roe and Dee Allison welcome you in the cozy tasting room overlooking the vineyard. If you want to enjoy high-quality wines in a relaxed and personal atmosphere, this is the place to be. The vineyard is located only 5 miles from Barboursville Vineyards and Horton Vineyards, and is a perfect alternative to the bigger and busier vineyards in that region, especially on Saturdays.
Petit Manseng is the vineyard’s feature grape. The grape originates from the Jurançon region in southwest France in the foothills of the Pyrenees. We have a similar topography and climate here in the foothills of the Blue Ridge, so the grapes feel right at home. They also grow Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Grenache.
What sets this vineyard apart?
It’s a great experience to visit a truly family run vineyard. The family takes a lot of pride in how they’re making the most of their land. Together they designed the layout of the vineyard, set trellis posts, plant the vines, prune the shoots, and harvest the fruit. What used to be their sledding hill and impromptu driving range, now produces up to 500 cases of wine annually.
Reynard Florence doesn’t sell any food, but you are allowed to bring a picnic. There are plenty of chairs on the nice patio overlooking the vineyard, so no need to bring a blanket.
Owner Roe and Dee Allison highly recommend the Petit Manseng, their most award winning white wine. We went home with a bottle of their Petit Manseng 2012 and Reynard Blanc 2012.
